Show Up, Woman Up and Vote!

If you’ve been keeping up with my posts in the past month, you’ve noted my #womanUP campaign which I created to support women candidates running this November and to encourage women to get out there and vote. In my last post, I focused on voter registration and the concern of voter suppression this election day. I also introduced a new element in the campaign — the Dangerous Women Vote t-shirt. There are many ways for women to be dangerous, but one of the most critical in the coming days and weeks is for women to VOTE.

If you choose to buy a t-shirt, you will also be helping to raise needed funds to support voter rights and voter protection. All proceeds will go to two very worthy nonprofits (more on them below). There’s also a great face mask that you can wear to the polls, as well!

I launched ShopBADW.com, my “purchase with purpose” shopping website, last October with the publication of my book, “Becoming a Dangerous Woman: Embracing Risk to Change the World.” The shop offers eco-friendly, sustainable products that are designed and made by women. 100% of the profits are going to organizations that support and lift up women.

The tie-dyed tee, made by my ShopBADW partner, Sharon Backurz, has been so well-received already, but I want to give my readers a special code — womanUp — to receive a 15% discount for the few remaining. I’ve also decided to extend the 15% discount to every item on the ShopBADW site (with the same discount code), both to express my gratitude for all of you who have supported the #womanUp campaign in social media and to provide an incentive for women and our male allies (yes, there are products in the shop for men who love dangerous woman!) to proudly ‘wear’ our activism by supporting women-led businesses and raising funds for social enterprises doing important work in the world.

100% of the proceeds from the Dangerous Women Vote t-shirt and mask will go to Fair Count and Fair Fight. Fair Count is a nonprofit dedicated to partnering with Hard to Count communities to achieve a fair and accurate count in the 2020 Census, critical for determining allocations of much needed federal and state funds. Fair Fight advocates for free and fair elections to ensure access to a fundamental right for all citizens in a democracy.  Both were founded by Stacey Abrams.

I hope you will visit this page on the ShopBADW site for information about the incredible organizations I’ve chosen to support with The Benefit Collection Dangerous Women products. If you’ve read my book, you will recognize that most of them are led by the dangerous women I interview in the book.

I look forward to seeing other dangerous women in their Dangerous Women Tees and Masks in the few weeks remaining before this historic election which is our opportunity — indeed, our responsibility and privilege — to show up, to WomanUP, and to vote!
