Changing Girls' Lives -- One Life at a Time

June 30, 2016

The Girls for a Change organization is led by one of our former TEDWomen speakers, Angela Patton. She and her team change girls’ lives one at a time and make a difference every day. Please contribute whatever you can. It matters. If they meet their goal, 2 girls will be attending TEDWomen this year!

Here’s a message from Girls for a Change director Angela Patton:

If we reflect on our life experiences, we’ll probably notice that leadership opportunities really began when we were young…that’s also when our most influential life lessons in leadership were learned.

Girls for a Change offers this unforgettable experience to a group of 25 girls each summer on the campus of Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia.  But with your help, so many more deserving girls can be included.

Your donations will go toward sending more girls to the Camp Diva Leadership Academy, where they’ll meet some of the most dynamic leaders in their community, and across our nation, as they also discover the leader within themselves. The Academy focuses on team building, leadership development, and self-discovery through exposure and experiences to professional adults, leadership executives, and management roles in politics, government, business, and entertainment.

Girls for a Change also plans to take two girls to the TEDWomen 2016 Conference in San Francisco, California, where they’ll explore how time and attention shape our lives through talks that offer ideas, stories and solutions.

We at Girls for a Change are so excited to share with you this offer from a very generous donor who will match up to $10,000 of donations from our supporters. This means that for every dollar you donate to GFAC, our generous donor will match your gift, dollar for dollar, up to a total of $10,000!!!

more people care about the climate crisis than you think

A slew of new studies have found that the vast majority of the human population — 80 to 89% — want governments to do more about the climate crisis.

The answer surprised me — and I have a feeling it might surprise you, too.
